Engage interactions not viewble in Storyline

Dec 03, 2015

Hi all

I have been using Studio 13 for a few months and have created some e-learnings with quizzes and interactions - all work fine

I am now evaluating Storyline and have imported my Studio generated e-learning into storyline

I have had to do a few modifications - which is fine, however the one thing I cannot resolve is the Studio engage generated interactions they do work in preview (pp up message says engage interaction is unavailable during preview) or when published to the web (just get a blank screen and the next button doesn't allow you to skip and move on to the next slide) - how do I check they are working before uploading to the LMS??

Help!

Hi, Patricia -- Thanks for reaching out with your question! Can you please test your course in the intended environment to see how it behaves there? As stated in this article, "If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail."

Please let us know if that helps, and you are welcome to share your file if you would like us to do some testing on our end. :)

Hi Christie

Thanks for the quick response

Does that mean I have to publish and upload to an LMS before I can see the Studio Engage generated interactions?

This is not an option. As this e-learning is currently live in our LMS, if I want to upload the storyline version it will over-write and replace the current studio 13 version - unless I can check the storyline version is fully functional before uploading I cannot risk uploading it as a live course!

What other options are there of checking the interactions work?

Hi, Patricia -- Thanks for your response! As you mentioned you are using an LMS, one great option to consider for testing is to publish your course and upload the output into the SCORM Cloud (as it is the industry standard for LMS testing). Here is an article, How to Troubleshoot Your LMS with SCORM Cloud, that may be helpful regarding SCORM Cloud testing. :)
