is there a way that I can have an English and Spanish version of closed captioning in the same course in Storyline 360? I would like to have both versions in the same course.
Hi Jan, this is something I am about to try for the first time with French, Dutch and Japanese in the same course.
You can't have English and Spanish captioning on the same slide so the only way I can think to do it is to duplicate all the slides in the course so that you have one version with the English captioning and one version with the Spanish. You will have to create a slide upfront that allows the user to select their language and then jump them to the appropriate version within Storyline.
It is not the greatest solution because it will make future updates a nightmare but it is the only way I can think to do it.
If anyone has any other ideas, I would love to hear them.
The easiest was to create the course scene by scene and have the user select from a "map" to set the default language at the beginning . This was supported by branching the scenes and inserting language changes into duplicated scenes.
to avoid replacing "everything" every revision we have, where possible, use triggers to display in different languages in text boxes using colored markers or flag icons for the language that then triggers a text layer for the language.
For software demos I have done similar by setting up character image who is narrating in the language choice and linking by trigger to the video playback of the demo
