I am having trouble saving a storyline file. The file was originally written by someone else in the company and they have saved it to a shared drive. When I open into my storyline 3 it says it needs to upgrade to a later version (I think it may have been written in storyline 2, but I have also opened it in storyline 2 and get the same error message when I try to save the file). I have tried to save, save as, and edit and save/save as. The error message I get is: "the project file could not be saved. CompressLengthMismatch."
I'm really sorry you're running into that error message – let's get to the bottom of this!
To start:
Is this happening with any file or just that one particular file that was shared with you? If it's just that one file, I would first try importing the slides into a new file.
If that doesn't help, I'd then go through these simplerepair steps (Storyline 2 and Storyline 3).
Let me know how you make out – I'll be standing by!
Hello! What was the resolution for this issue? I've now encountered the same thing and was wondering if there is a definitive way to solve the problem without too much troubleshooting.
I don't see an update from Susan above, but I'm curious if you were able to already try out the steps that Katie shared? An import into a new file is a relatively quick process and a repair of Storyline should also take only 10-15 minutes (as long as you're not waiting on IT to install again. 😉).
Let us know where you're stuck after that, and what if any new error messages you see as that'll point us in the right direction.
I am having the same issue and have tried all the solutions provided (importing into a new project, uninstall and reinstall Storyline) I am working in Storyline 360. The file originated from a colleague who also used Storyline 360 and saved it to a SharePoint drive for me to access. Do you have any other suggestions?
Have you copied the Storyline project from SharePoint to your local drive like a Documents folder? If not, move the project from SharePoint to your Documents folder. Then, open the project in Storyline 360.
If that doesn't do the trick, feel free to reach out to our Support Team in a support case.

Hi Debbie,

Take a look and see if the import steps mentioned help you out!
