Error message while saving Storyline Project

Jul 01, 2014

I'm hoping someone may have had this issue before and be able to provide some advice on how to fix it.

I have been working on a project which is nearly complete and ready for a review process, but for some reason the project just will not save. I get an error message which states "The project file could not be saved. Not enough quota is available to process this command". Here is a screenshot of the error message.

I have tried the following to try and fix the issue with no luck:

>Save the file in a different location (including an external thumb drive)

>Reduce the number of scenes until eventually there is only one scene

>Save the file with only some of the screens. I tried to delete a slide at a time and save each time to determine if it was one slide which was causing an issue. No luck unfortunately.

> Open a new project and add different content and save (this worked fine) Then copied the slides across into the new project and I got the same error message.

Hopefully it's something fairly simple that I haven't tried...

Hi Brenda and welcome to Heroes!

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty with this error message. Based on a few of the troubleshooting steps you tried, I'd want to know more about where the file was created and where you tried to save it originally. You'd want to follow the guidelines here in regards to working locally and saving using a file name that doesn't include special characters, accents, or symbols.

I also have only seen that error message once before, and it was a specific Microsoft error as mentioned here.  Since it's just that one Storyline file, I'd look into the Microsoft end of things as well - and you may want to reach out to Ruth directly to see if she's able to share what caused it.
