Does the Powerpoint and/or Storyline file have any special characters or symbols in the file name, or it's saved location? It's always best to work on local project files as described here and make sure that they don't have special characters/symbols in the name.
If you're still having an issue importing it, can you share the PPT with us?

I specifically renamed them to numbers and put in the root directory. So not. Here is a file. It would be cool if you would be able to convert it to articulate and attach storyline project here.
Wendy, could you please save this in Storyline 2 or 3 format? I dont have 360. Btw I tried to import first 43 slides myself and got the same error( Or even 6 slides.
I saw the same issue as Wendy--slide 45 seems to be the culprit. I was able to import all of the other slides into the attached Storyline 2 file. Perhaps you could rebuild slide 45 from scratch in Storyline. Let us know how you make out!

Hi Jay
I have SL360 not SL3 and will try and import your ppt in - what is your story size?
Size doesnt matter, just use the initial one from the ppt. Its 4:3 ratio size.
I started importing in six slides at a time -
Slide 45 in your ppt is one of the ones that is throwing that error
perhaps try importing in the rest of the slides without that one or continue to go in groups.
Here is the file up to slide 44
