I have a slide where the learner enters their scores from an assessment. These scores then display on another slide. The client wants the two highest scores to be highlighted or identified. I am thinking I can change the state of the field with the highest number, but have no idea what type of trigger I need to evaluate the entries. Ideas of how I can do this.

without seeing the setup or how many fields you are comparing the triggers could be something like the rough sample attached

Ok. Is there any way to change State for two top highest scores? You would have to know the number to set that condition I think.
