Example: Show or Hide any Object on Cue with a Trigger
Feb 18, 2015
Little known neat trick: Setup triggers to dynamically cue entry and exit of objects. Once setup, you can cue entry and exit as often as you want.
You can even cue entry and exit of the same object with cue points on the timeline. Check out the second slide. There isn't any timeline animation spanning the timeline, right? The seekbar tells a different story.
The secret is adding your object somewhere on the timeline where the exit animation won't be triggered after your show animation has been triggered. I added them at the beginning in this example. In SL2, your object time span needs to be as long as your exit and entry spans or it'll shorten them automatically. In SL1, you can make your object span really short without entry / exit time compression.
Here's the published demo of this really simple example.

You learn something new everyday! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing Steve :)
Found a strange bug in the HTML5 version for the first slide. Sinking sun:)
Hi Steve!
I took a look as well and I see what you are talking about.
However, I published your course as well and I am able to see the issue in both Flash and HTML5.

Are these different revisions?
I'm probably publishing from a newer version;) will take a look to see if there's something specific with that slide. The second one doesn't sink.

Thanks Steve!
Good god, Steve. This example is incredible :)
This is awesome!
Excellent find. I had to use 12 layers on 12 objects on a project just three months ago. This would have saved some time.
