exception message when importing Quizmaker questions

Mar 07, 2013

Hi

I'm getting an exception message when I try to import Quizmaker questions into Storyline. I followed the steps in the tutorial, as far as I can tell, but when I try to import, I get the message shown in the attachment, and only two or three questions import.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi Anne,

Sorry for the trouble. First, try to make sure that all of the project files and the files you're attempting to import are on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Please take a look a the solutions in the article below:

If you continue to see this, please let me know.

Thanks!

Good morning Anne,

I'm sorry to hear that didn't resolve the problem for you. Out of curiosity, do you get this message when you try to import into an existing course, or a brand new and blank course? If you haven't already, please try to create a new, blank course and import the Quizmaker quiz into Storyline. If that doesn't work, please try to create a new Quizmaker file and try importing it. If you don't see the error again with a new quiz, it may be a problem with the original Quizmaker file.

If you see the error when creating a new Storyline file and importing and after creating a new Quizmaker file and importing, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article below:

Articulate > Product Support > Unexpected behavior in Storyline

Hopefully that will solve the problem. If not, please let me know.

Thanks!

Christine
