Exit animation on a shape

HI I have 2 rectangles on my slide that i want animations on. I want the rectangles to enter from left and right to the middle and then exit left and right. However, I can only seem to add Entrance animations to the rectangles. The shapes are not picking up my exit animations. Any ideas.

P.S: I want the shapes to exit soon after they enter.

I'm having this same issue- I have a wipe animation upon entrance, but also want a wipe down Exit animation and it doesn't seem to work. Anyone know why?
