I have just looked into the animations synching, I think this was the problem as I had not dragged the animation to the point I wanted it to exit, done that now and it works.
However I am still not sure how to get my other layer animations to begin,(on same slide)
I seem to have done something wrong with the layers and animations now the next layer is not animating?
I seem to have solved part of the problem I had but I am not getting my animations to flow through each layer when I hit play.
I looked for a tutorial about this and can't seem to find one.
This is my screen shot showing all the layers I have on the one slide. You can see on the timeline how I have brought the animations in at the time they need to work with the speech.
the animations are working and I play the first layer of the slide and it does this but after that layer is over the screen stays blank when I want the next layer to come on. The sound continues to play but no more animations appear. Yet when I view the layers one at a time they all work, I just don't knpow how to make the layers flow from one to the next continuously. I checked on the base layer it was showing the layers,
I've been looking into slide transitions on the animations tab and I realised it was set to 'no transitions' so I changed it to a 'fade smoothly transition' to each layer, i thought this would do it but no. This has not worked.
The layers I set up have animations to come in at set times, each layer should start on the timeline after the previous has finished, as this is how I set them.
You mentioned triggers before but I want it to jump to the next layer within the slide, not jump to the next slide.
Maybe it has something to do with the sound file? As I imported this into each layer, but it continues after the layer has ended. I did not think I had to chop the sound file up for each layer? Could it be this causing the problem?
You need to have a trigger to show each layer, you can do this by adding a shape off screen that starts when you layer should show and add a trigger to show the layer. Or use a show layer when timeline ends trigger
Layer will only show if you have a trigger to show the layer, it is not automatic
OK I have done that, but as the sound file continues on the 1st layer (after the animations are over) the trigger still wont go to the next layer yet until the timeline has finished. I think the imported sound file may be stopping this.
No you could add a shape off screen that starts on the timeline when you want the first layer to show, add a trigger to this shape to show the layer when the timeline of that shape starts
I don't seem to be getting anywhere, the email you gave did not send (phil@me.com) I will try sending the file over on here.
The problem I have is not starting the slide but getting the next layer to play as I added a trigger shape but the options I got are below and Im not sure which to choose

Can you post the slide, not sure what is happening.
Could be that you are not showing the layer.
Hi I think I solved it-
I made sure each layer was hidden when the next came on and it only shows what layer is playing at the time, I think I've got there!
Thanks

Hi Natalie
Is it that the layers are not showing? On the base layer you need to show the layers.
If it is that the animations are not working then it may help if you could share your file/slide.

How are you showing the layers form the base layer? Are you using shapes with triggers assigned?
If so in the layer options do you have hide base layer objects checked?
This should work
I don't know if this helps but this is how I have my layer options set.
Can I send the slide over to you?
Natalie
Yes you can attach it here or send to philATme.com
just replace the AT with @

Do I have to edit the sound?

would help if I put the correct email phil.mayorATme.com
