Exit Course Button Displays Pop-up in Chrome

Apr 30, 2018

All of our courses end with a quiz. On the results slide of the quiz, we place an "x" button that the user clicks to exit the course and return to the LMS. The "x" is simply a shape with the "exit course" trigger applied.

Whenever a user clicks the "x" Chrome pops up a window stating that their changes may not be saved. For obvious reasons, I am hoping to figure out a way around that.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Barrett,

I haven't seen that before. What LMS are you using?

Is your Storyline course launching in a new window and the Exit behavior would bring the learners back to the main LMS page?

I'd also be curious if the same behavior happened in another LMS environment such as SCORM Cloud. That article will walk you through uploading and testing there. Lastly, what version of Chrome are you using?

We are using an XAPI LMS that we custom built in-house. When the learner clicks on the link in the LMS, it launches in a new window. Then when they click the "X" at the end, it should close that window and (I'm assuming) would bring them back to the LMS.

I am using Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit) of Chrome.

Thanks for the extra detail, Barrett! Yikes, I also haven't seen that behavior before.

Do you only see this issue in Chrome, or does this happen in other browsers as well?

Would you also be able to share your .story file so we can have a closer look? You can attach the file right here in the thread, or if you'd like to keep it private – simply use this form instead. We'll be standing by!
