expanding story file size
Feb 08, 2013
Today I created a fresh working copy of my story.
Most of the time I do this by copy paste in Windows Explorer (wel, actually Total Commander
Because the file size of my story kept on getting bigger and bigger I tried a diffrent approach today.
I opened the last version in SL and use Save As to create today's working coy.
I was hoping that Save As would trigger some kind of file size optimization thingy but instead the newly saved version only got bigger.

Maybe this needs some more investigating by other Heroes and Articluate staff!

Hi Berno,
I usually "overcome" this by first saving my story as a .storytemplate, then (without quiting the application) saving again as .story . I found that this usually brings the size down.
Hope it helps,
Alex
Thanks Alex!
I'll give it a try!

Alex,
Thanks again for the tip but it doesn't work for me.
step 1: I opened
2013-02-08 training cameravoering basis.story 120,160,256 2013-02-08 15:26 -a--
step 2: Save as storytemplate
2013-02-10 training cameravoering basis (template).storytemplate 126,955,520 2013-02-11 12:11 -a--
this increased the file size by 6MB.
step 3: Save as story

this actually decreased the file size but to the exact same size I started with.
One the one hand, in times of terabyte harddiscs, who cares about some MB's more on the other hand, entering the cloud era for storage and not always decent up- and download times, smaller SL files would be nice
