If you're really ambitious and not afraid of lots of hard work, you could probably do it with a bunch of triggers and layers:
you would need to keep track of which item is expanded, and have a layer for every possibility.
Your triggers would look something like this:
When user clicks on Aims and Objectives and content is collapsed and A&O is collapsed and Pre-req is collapsed and Emerg is collapsed, show layer Content collapsed-Aims expanded-Pre collapsed-Emerg collapsed, etc.
Simpler alternatives:
1. The built-in menu does this natively.
2. Expand each item with a slide out list of sub-items
+ Content
- Aims and objectives | Aim 1
+Pre-req | Aim 2
+Emerg | Aim 3
This would be pretty simple to do if you used a button set and states.
All of these options are simplified if you are satisfied with only one item being expanded at any given time.
Having layers for all possibilities is not an option as I'm likely to be dealing with lots of collapsing text boxes with each one being amended at regular intervals.
When you say the 'built-in menu' does this natively, where might I find this?
I meant the menu in the player. You can add headings, edit which slides are listed and what is shown as a name for the slides, and promote or demote items to create a hierarchical structure.

Walt,
Thanks for the reply.

Ah right, unfortunately that's not exactly what I'm after.
Surely there must be a way of inserting something like this into the slide itself. It's a typical hierarchy system that's very common to most users.
There are ways, I'm just not sure they yield a dynamically resizing result like what your original post showed. If you have some flexibility about what it looks like, there may be some ideas here that are useful: https://community.articulate.com/articles/drop-down-navigation-menus-elearning
Thanks Walt.
Hopefully this is something that the Articulate developers could look into improving.
I get that workarounds are part and parcel of what we do, but I think this is quite basic functionality.
Hi Michael! It is a cool idea.
Could you share your idea along with your use case with our team here?
Thanks Leslie, I have made the request.
