Export to XLIFF for translation
Jan 17, 2018
I'm trying to export and XLIFF file for translation in Storyline 360. The export to Word worked fine. Selecting version 1.2 or 2.0 I get the message that Windows can't open this file. I tried searching for documentation or forum threads, but was having trouble finding anything that would help. Do I need a certain program before I can export to XLIFF?
We are just exploring our translation options so if anyone has insight on when/why an XLIFF file is preferred over Word, please share. Thanks!

Hi Brittney,
XLIFF is a file format commonly used for translation services and computer programs, and you'll need a specific type of software to read XLIFF files.
Is there a reason why you'd need to export to XLIFF rather than to Word?
Hi Alyssa, thanks for clarifying. No, I don't think we will have a need to use that format just yet - I just wasn't sure what it was so I was trying to test all export formats to see which would work best for us. Since we are not using a professional translator at this time, we will use Word.
Thanks!
Awesome, thanks Brittney!
