Exporting content from SL2 for multi language translation - import back to SL2
May 04, 2016
Hi,
My company is starting to evaluate several course authoring tools. I'm pushing for Storyline 2. We need to develop courses for several languages: French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Italian...
We currently either export all PowerPoint text fields (and notes) into a file which is processed via a translation tool called Across. That translated text is then reviewed/corrected by the translators, then imported back into PowerPoint and adjusted for differences in sentence length etc. Or, we do the same process with MS Word documents which are then given to the development staff, who manually build Flash applications.
We have several (unused) licenses for Captivate 7 which has an automatic export/import process and the newer version uses XML files - just point to the file you want to use for a specific version of the lesson.
So, can someone tell me or point me to information on how we would translate a lesson created in English to one in a different language?
Thanks for the help!

Hi June,
You can export all the content for translations and then re-import it once the file has been translated to do this click on File then to Translations here you will give 2 options (Import & Export). Hope this helps!
Thanks Stephen! This seems similar to Captivate process.

Yes it is. My experience with it is good as you mentioned, depending on the language you might need to give some section some line breaks so the content fits.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Hi, June -- I see that Stephen was able to assist you here! For others who may want to take a look, I thought I might share the following resources on Translation:
Hope that helps! :)
