Exporting feeds from user

Mar 25, 2013

Hi,

Is it possible to export user text feeds to word/other format or through triggered e-mail?

Hi Shalabh,

What exactly are you referring to with "feeds"? Do you mean information users have entered into data entry fields, or surveys, or?

There isn't a supported method for reporting input via email, but there may be some unsupported methods that may work for you, depending on the information you want to send.

If you can share a little more information about what you'd like to accomplish, maybe I can find some options that will work for you

Thanks!

Thanks Christine,

You understood correctly. I wish to export user inputs (Text entered into data fields). There is a provision of setting a trigger to 'Send e-mail' in storyLine. I wish to make a repository of various text inputs made by user in different slides onto a placeholder, and then try sending it to me through e-mail route or some other route if possible.

Thanks!

Hi Shalabh!

Thanks very much for the clarification. Currently, Storyline doesn't have a feature which enables you to email the results of quiz questions or the values of variables that you collect via data entry fields. I encourage you to submit a feature request for this kind of functionality.

In the meantime, you might be able to come close to what you want by trying out the JavaScript (if you're comfortable with this) solution that Steve Flowers shares in this post. Although Articulate doesn't provide support for JavaScript coding, Storyline does allow you to use triggers to execute JavaScript in your courses, so this might be an option for you.

Let me know how it goes

Thanks!

Hi Alta,

We want every feature in our software to work well. Unfortunately, there’s no way to email quiz results easily, accurately, and consistently. For example, if you use Gmail or your computer’s security settings are high, you can’t email results. Also, you run the risk of learners tampering with results since they can access the email before it’s sent. Given these limitations, we decided not to include the email results feature in new products.

If you need to track results, we recommend using an LMS.
