I'm not an computer genius but I was wondering if I can create a variable in Storyline that my customers databas could read as an 1 or 0 depending if the customer have finished the course or not. Is this possible? If so, what do I need to know to construct this?
Tracking completion is almost impossible without an LMS. However you can create a slide at the end of the course. (This slide can only be visible when the learner completes the course) - On this slide, you can have form the learner fills.
This form will contain basic information of the learners (information they can be identified with e.g. name, student number etc.) you can now use javascript (check link for sample https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/recording-user-s-name-and-email-address#73694) to export the .txt file of the filled form into a folder on the webserver (or wherever the course is hosted) - you might need to get the javascript code to export a form to a .txt over the internet
Your client can always download the text files in the folder to view who has submitted .
