Failing a question in a test and going back to a particular section in the course.

Feb 12, 2018

I'm looking to create a test whereby each question is related to a particular section of the course.

I don't want to set an 80% passmark for example and leaving learners with a potential 20% knowledge gap. I want a 100% passmark.

My idea is that at the end, a results slide will show the passed/not passed sections on a results slide. They could then click on not passed section and this would then take them back to that section of the course to re-visit. Once they had gone through it again it would take them to the relevant question.

However, i'm not sure what is the best way to go about this.

Has anyone done this before or have any suggestions of ways i could go about doing this?

Hi Howie

It sounds like they will need to get 100% (with retry's) to pass the course.  If this is the case I wonder if you could forgo a result slide (ie not use a graded result slide for passing course completion to LMS) and instead mark completion based on having got to the end of the content (which you could only do but successfully completing all sections).

If you think you could mark completion in this way (for LMS purposes), I would then preference custom variables to build my final "result" slide.  This would give you the ability to display and navigate learners to different sections with ease.

Yep, Christine is correct: 100% pass is the way to go.

On each question slide, add a variable if Q1 is correct, change from False to True. If Q2 is correct, change from False to True. Etc. etc.

Get all correct, bingo. You're done!

Get some incorrect, then show the "failed" layer which on show can push you straight off to a "menu" slide as such.

On this menu slide, list your questions and then add Correct and Incorrect (however you want to show this) and hide them. Add triggers on this failed layer "When timeline starts, change state of Q1 Correct text to normal on the condition that Q1 variable is correct" etc. etc. for each question.

When the learner does the assessment again, this "menu" will update each time. When they eventually get all correct, they won't see it anymore as it will show the Passed layer on the results slide, ready to head to the end of the course for the LMS to update.
