"Fatal Error" - LMS Status Issue

Jul 23, 2012

Users are reported a "Fatal Error" when they take my storyline course through our LMS.

About half way through the 31 question test, they receive an error message that states "A fatal error has occurred, communication with the server has been lost". At this point, if the user clicks "ok" they're able to continue with the course. However, when the complete the course, the completed status isn't reported back to our LMS. Oddly enough, the course is reporting that answers the user chooses to the system, just not the final status.

I know that there is a known issue with having the training set to "launch in a new window" if an LMS is already using a new window, but I checked and the course was not published with the "new window" feature turned on.

I'm at a loss with this one folks, I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide.

Hey Ira!

As far as the communication being lost in the first place, you may want to give this older article a look, as well as talk with your LMS team abut why it's happening. But Storyline allows you to notify users when they lose their network or Internet connection. This gives them the opportunity to re-establish their connection so they won't lose their progress or results. Here’s how to enable this feature.
