Feedback layer problems

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

I've created a quiz. I have a neutral character on the base layer.
When the user gets the question correct, I've customised the the correct feedback layer to show a happy character. 
When the user gets the question wrong, I've customised the try again layer to:

• show a sad character
• show a button that will take the user to another slide which will give them extra information, in order to (hopefully) get the correct answer when they try the answer again

My problem is when the user gets the answer wrong and they click the button on the customised try again layer to get to the extra information slide, we very briefly see the neutral character from the base layer. We don't see anything else from the base layer, just the character.

Has anyone got any ideas for how I can solve this?
