feedback slide on review quiz

Mar 04, 2013

Hi all

I have tried to find the answer, but honestly I have no idea where to find it.

Enclosed a document of two review slides from two different storys. In one you see the feedback slide, in the other you don't.

Please can someone help out and let me know what it is I do wrong?

thanks.

Hi christina, thanks for your help. No I do not mean the bar, but the red square (feedback master top picture doc enclosed). This blocks the answers.  It is the red square shown in 'Retail toets test' I don't want to show during review. This should be possible, as you can see in 'Maja 15-2'. Hope you have an idea.

Hi Nancy, thanks for your help and I see what you mean. However then the feedback  slide doesn't show at the moment the question is being answered. I only want the feedback slide not to be seen during the quiz review (at the first picter of retail toets test it shows and blocks answers), I would like it to be as shown at the second picture (from the story Maja 15-2) of the document enclosed. Hope I make myself clear.

Hi Ettina,

I believe what you're seeing is the incorrect prompt, that allows the user to continue after they've answered incorrectly. I can't read it, but I'm guessing that's what it is On that specific feedback prompt, can you add a trigger to the "continue" or confirmation button to hide that layer/object when the user clicks in addition to moving to the next slide?

Also, are you able to share the .STORY file here? It may be easier if Nancy or myself can take a look at this.

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Christine.

I am not sure what you mean with the feedback prompt. What I did was move the orginial continue button (doorgaan in Dutch)  outside the slide, so I could add my own continue button, including with a trigger to go to the next slide.

I want to upload the two story file and hope you can help out, however it does not work. Any other options?

thanks

Hi Ettina,

Ok, I think I may have found the issue. I was looking at the slides and on the "Incorrect" layers, I noticed there is a continue button that is triggered to hide the layer. However, this button (along with the tiggers) is not actually tied to the button on the Feedback Master and is currently placed off of the stage for the slide.

So, in the end, the user is clicking on the button that's contained in the Feedback Master, not the slide itself. The button you have is placed off of the slide, so it's not actually closing the layer when the user clicks the button.

I've placed the same button on the slide, over the one that displays from the Feedback Master. Now, when the user clicks the button that layer will close. This way, the prompt won't show when the user is reviewing the course. I did this for all of the "Incorrect" and "Correct" layers for the slides.

I'm attaching the modified version, if you'd like to try it out and see if it works for you.

Hi Christine

Wauw, perfect. So when I understand you have done this on each slide? If so, that means I have to do this for each question?

I got the advice to move the original button outside the slide, because I did not really like it not to be the same colour. However, if this means I have to amend each button seperately, that means a lot extra work (the original story has 64 questions, so that means 128 adjustments).

I tried to do this via the masterslide, but that is not working.

Do I understand you correctly?

Christine Hendrickson

Hi Ettina,

Personally, I prefer to place the triggers on the actual question slides. All I did was add a trigger to the button from the Feedback Master to hide the layer. Then, I copied the entire button and pasted it on the Incorrect and Correct layers for the slides. It's fairly quick once you have the first button set up the way you want it This will save you time and you won't need to recreate the triggers on the layers for every single slide.

I'm not sure which Master you were working with, but you could try going through the Feedback Master and adding the "Hide Layer" trigger to the button. However, with the way the course was functioning when I saw it, I'm not entirely sure this will work for you on all 64 questions. Not all of them were displaying the feedback layers.

How large is the primary course with the 64 questions? Will it post here? I don't believe it will, but might be worth a try.

Hi Christine

I think I understand it. I make the button in colour at the master feedback slide and then I add an extra button per slide with no fill and no outline but with two triggers (one hide and one next slide). I think this works, puf puf .

Thanks for your help and for your offer to help out with the 64 questions, however this is internal information with I cannot share in a public environment.  And I know now how it works, so this helps!

thanks, will start with my 64 questions ;-).

Have a nice evening.

Hi Ettina,

Don't be sorry, at all. I'd much rather know if something goes wrong. Hopefully we can get this to work properly for you.

If you'd like, you should be able to send the entire project to our support staff in a case. The form should be able to handle a larger file than the forums.

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Articulate Support - Submit a Support Case

Just share the case number with me, and I'll try to take a look as well. If I'm not able to find an answer, our support team should be able to give some suggestions.

I hope you have a great night

Christine

Hi Christine

Thank you very much for your advice to send the story to support, they adjusting this file and luckily overlooked one slide, this was how I could see what you both were saying.  Really in the Netherlands we would say 'I could kiss you' to show our appreciation (normally without real kisses .

Just to make my understanding complete:

If I would like al boxes in the feedback slide the same colour, I can adjust them via the feedback master and I only have to adjust the 'continue' box at each slide. This also means that the working of the continue button stays oke. Is this right?

Thanks so much for helping out!!

Christine Hendrickson

Hi Ettina,

That's great news, very happy to hear it Thanks so much for keeping me updated, I appreciate it.

Correct, you can make the color adjustments on the Master and then use the "Continue" button on each layer as I did. I think this will provide the best functionality for you in your course.

If I can help with anything else, please let me know!

Christine
