File is large after I deleted video files

Aug 12, 2018

I uploaded video files straight into the story file.

Now after I deleted them (the video files) I still see that the story file stays large (278 MB).

I think we need some more details before we can help you out...how big was the file before you first uploaded the videos? Are you deleting your cache? Have you tried saving the file as a new name AFTER you've deleted the videos? How big/long were the videos (and how many of them were there)? It's all relative, because you could have a course with four slides in it that could be tiny, but 278 MB doesn't really sound like a very large SL file.

Really sorry for the trouble, Israel. I'd love to lend a hand!

A project file might not immediately reduce in size when a video is deleted. Storyline keeps deleted assets temporarily after their removal in case you need to click Undo to restore them. The good news is your project file will eventually shrink, usually after saving it a couple times. You can also get it to shrink right away by saving and closing the project file, then re-opening it and saving it again. Let me know if that helps!

If the file size is still the same after those steps, would you mind sending the .story file to our Support Engineers? We'll give it a test and let you know what we find!
