"File Not Found" when I try to open publish/ zipped webfile
Nov 18, 2019
Hi there,
I have made a Storyline file that is 95 slides long. When I publish it to Web, as I have to other files, it is too big to "email". I worked around it by saving the ZIP file to a shared drive at work, which also worked with other files... and sending instructions to a colleague for example to extract + open the story.html file
BUT this particular 95 slide file (it is a branching e-learning course, with a try mode as the second half) each time says "File not Found" when trying to double click the Story.html file.
If anyone can give me any ideas as to why, or point me in the direction of how to resolve it, that would be great!
I suspect it is due to file size, so of that is right, the second fold of this question is what can I cut out to most effectively reduce the file size; i.e video (most likely), then what??

Hi Rachael!
This should be an easy fix! Can your colleague save the folder to their local drive first, and then open the story.html file?
The "file not found" error message gives me an idea that the file can't be opened directly from the server. Keep me posted!
Hi there, I am experiancing the same issue. Using Storyline 360. Go publish and save to my desktop. Not sure how else to open it. Just comes up with a blank screen. My file is LMS - Scorm 1.2
Hi Tim,
You'll always want to make sure you’re viewing the course from your LMS and not on your local hard drive. Security restrictions from your computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network can interfere with the published output when it's viewed locally.
