Flash compatibility and Storyline

May 06, 2013

I have been unable to find any current conversation related to the specific problem I am having with Flash and Storyline. The problem really consists of resolving two questions; first, there appears to be no option in Storyline to publish to a different version of Flash, and if not, my question is; when a Storyline file is published does it simply appropriate the version of Flash that is installed on my PC ? (Flash v11 at the moment). Secondly, is it at all possible to publish a Storyline file to an earlier version of Flash? The reason I ask such a question is because a client is experiencing difficulty with playing the Storyline SCORM packages in their own LMS (SABA). An Active X error pops up for this client. Due to very strict security measures this client only has Flash 9 installed. Essentially, I am wondering if anyone has had any Flash compatibility issues with Storyline and how were they resolved?

Thanks Mike and Gerry, i looked over the system requirements for Storyline and of course realised that, as you say, that it requires Flash 10  or higher. I have since discovered that the PC 's our client is using only have Flash 9 installed, so the issue is not really related to SABA, in fact it works perfectly fine in SABA if you have flash 10 installed. However, disappointingly, for our client to upgrade thousands of machines to Flash 10 is one hellacious change that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Perhaps the next version of Storyline could include the functionality to publish to a range of different versions of Flash. When you deal with businesses that control many, many computers like i do, you discover just how many are still operating with old versions of everything and to author with the ability to meet those legacy needs would be a huge advantage.

I appreciate the problems for large organisations but I cannot see this happening, Flash Player 9 is old has less than 0.5% market share and is a security risk,  support has also been discontinued by Adobe (this happened over 2 years ago).  I expect that Storyline targets features from Flash Player 10, I would prefer the Developers target their work on new features over support for Legacy systems.

I have the opposite problem; A course with thousands of users and computers doesen't work properly any longer after they upgraded their flashvesrion to 11.

Slides ar jumping and films are missing. I tried to send them new  files and they took away the old content abd put in the new storylinefile to their cms, but it doesnt help. Not good, and we don´t know how to handle the problem. Any suggestions?

When published to a cms should i click the lms-box or web-box when i publish?
