Does the button have a trigger associated with it? Non-interactive items on screen will be read in the focus order with a screen reader, using the screen reader navigation, but will not be 'tab-able'. If the button does not have an associated trigger, it will be read as a non-interactive item.

I'm happy to help you troubleshoot the focus order and have a few quick clarifying questions:

  • What version of Storyline are you running? Click the Help tab, then About Storyline.
  • Which screen reader(s) and browser(s) are you using?
