Font Change within a Text Entry Field

Jun 26, 2012

No matter what i do to the font and font size of the text within a text entry box, it always reverts back to the Articulate font, 12 point.

I've already noticed there are two ways to edit the font: You can click on the box and change the font, or you can edit the text and then change the font.

I've done both and every time it reverts back to Articulate 12pt.

Is this a bug?  What's the work around?  Highly annoying!

I sent the files over to the engineers for them to take a look. We isolated a handful of slides that got corrupted. These files were not corrupted before I upgraded to update 10. So I'm having to go in to each problem slide, remove the freeform interaction, then put it back in. It's a pain, but at least it's working and I don't need to redo the entire project.

Many thanks for stopping back in with an update, CurlyQT Joy! And when dealing with corruption, it can be difficult to nail down the source, but glad things are moving in the right direction! Also, in an effort to avoid potential causes of corruption in the future, please see this check out the great article:  Follow These Tips to Reduce Your Risk of Corrupting or Losing Project Files.

Hi, Rory -- Just in case you were not aware, I thought I might mention that when you reply to a forum notification via email, the personal details and confidentiality notices that appear in your signature are displayed publicly here in the post.

To remove that info, simply use the EDIT button to delete that info and hit UPDATE. Hope that helps! :)

Hi Frances,

As you can see this forum discussion is a bit longer and encompasses a number of different topics at this point. You'll see my last response here in regards to the issues that were fixed with Update 10 (we're now on Update 11). If you're experiencing one of those issues still or a different issue - I'd want to get more information from you about what you're seeing, environments you're working and testing your courses in, etc.

If you'd like, you're also welcome to connect directly with our Support Engineers here.

Hi,
I'm using 360 (v 3.1.9448.0) and I'm having an issue with text entry boxes... font and size seems the same (looks different on the screenshots because of the zoom) but I cannot get it to stay aligned in the middle - when I preview the slide the text aligns to the top of the text entry box.

I have tried the tricks people mentioned for the font size issue, like setting it, then locking it etc. but I've had no luck.

Has anyone managed to get the alignment to stay as it's been set??

Any help would be appreciated
Cheers, Laura

Hi there Paul,

I’m really sorry that I can’t say if or when this issue will be fixed.  Our QA team has been evaluating this behavior, and we’re monitoring the way this issue impacts our customers. I'll certainly include your experience in their report. You are in the right place, and we’ll be sure to let you know any further information we have to share as soon as we can!

Hi Alyssa, ok but that doesn't help me much! I'm new to Storyline but I have come from a background of developing elearning modules in Flash. As mobile becomes more important and having clients that need to be able to tweak modules after building (and I can't expect them to learn Flash Actionscript) I have adopted Storyline after flirting with Captivate... Having been a user for a couple of months now I would like to make a suggestion (I appreciate SL is never going to be as flexible as Flash) - could you PLEASE implement a library for custom buttons and images a bit like the symbol library in Flash? I'm working on a job where the design is very important and having to go through all the tick boxes and radio buttons to update the state images is so tedious and a waste of time! That would be so fantastic, I'm sure it would be a hit with users...

I appreciate that feedback, Paul. Your idea for a symbol library in Flash would likely be a huge time saver for Storyline users. Would you mind telling our product development team more about what you would like to see in the form of a feature request? Thanks for sharing your perspective, as this helps us get a better understanding of how you'd like this feature to work.

If there's anything else that I can help you with in the meantime, please let me know.

I had a lesson that was built in Storyline 1.  When converted to Storyline 2, this original font problem remained.  To fix it, I created a new text entry box on the same page and then used the format painter to copy the formatting from the latest working text entry field to the faulty one.  This may work for others?
