Font changes for variable to times in IE

Hi guys,

I have seen this around the forums but haven't managed to have a definitive answer. We use a first name variable and wherever that variable is in a published output in IE it changes to Times. 

I have tried locking the text box that the variable sits in but still shows up in Times New Roman. Has anyone got any ideas? Is this a bug?
