Font settings are not applied to published contents

Aug 13, 2014

It seems that font settings in a story file are not properly applied in the published content.

For example, when publishing the following notes,

It's published as follows - Font settings cannot be used in the published contents at all.

(Be noted those are the Japanese characters which don't make sense - It's created for the test purpose)

As This hasn't happened in the update 5, it might be a issue of the update 6.

Does anyone come across the same issue?

What we would like to do is to apply different fonts in text in Notes.

Thank you!

Hi Masashi,

What font are you trying to set it to? When entering Japanese text into Storyline, Windows may use Simsun as the default font. Although Simsun font publishes fine in Storyline, you'll get even better results if you change the font to Arial Unicode MS.

First, I'd want to check that you're following along with these guidelines while working in your Storyline files:

The font within the "Notes" section of each slide is controlled using the same section of the Home tab that you would use to control the font on the slide itself. You would need to select the text within the "Notes" section and then using the Font options apply the changes there. The general default for a new file looks to be Articulate font, size 9.

HI Ashley,

Thank you for the comment!

I can apply fonts with the font box on the home tab. The issue here is that the font applied on the Home tab are not reflected into published contents. For example, Arial font is used in the first 3 characters "DEF" (See the screenshots attached in the first post) and the characters after those ones, HGS font ("HGS創英角ポップ体") is used, but as you can see in the second screenshot, the same font (I'm not sure what font is used) is used in the published content.

How can we reflect font setting used in the Storyline into published contents?

Thank you!

Hi Masahi,

Fonts should be embedded within the published content, except for variable references which will rely on system fonts. In you screen shot, you're showing it's in the Notes view - does it appear normally everywhere else, such as on the slide itself?

I don't have the font you mentioned to test it out - but as I mentioned before I'd recommend using the Arial Unicode MS font to see how it displays within the slide and within the notes.

Please let us know how it's looking after checking into those elements.

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for your reply and sorry for not updating this post.

Simply put, what I want to achieve is to use multiple fonts in Notes section – for example、applying Japanese font for Japanese characters and English font for alphabetical characters.

Using the technique described in the article “Globally change Notes font in Storyline?” (https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/globally-change-notes-font-in-storyline#), multiple fonts can be used by applying fonts in Word.

This method worked in update 5, but in update 6 & 7 the font of the first character is applied to all characters.

Would it be possible to provide us with the following information?

1. Is Using multiple fonts in Notes section officially supported or not?

2. If it’s supported, current behavior in update 7 seems not to be working properly. Will it be fixed in a future update?

Thank you for your help in advance!
