Font size changing when opened on a diffferent computer

May 15, 2014

Hello all,

I am having a tricky issue. I am in the process of creating a course in Storyline and it looks fine. When I send it to my colleague and she opens it in Storyline (not published) the font sizes are changed.

Autofit is off for all text boxes and we are using the Arial font which is on both computers.

If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Does the font appear bigger or smaller on the other computer, even though the text-size field shows it is set to the same size?  If so, is one computer a PC and one a Mac? Because the same font set at the same size on a Mac is actually a slightly different size than on a PC. Strange, but true. And the few pixels difference can affect how the text wraps on screen. So that might be the issue.

Or does the text-size field show that the font is a actually set to a different size (e.g., it was 10, now it's 11) on the other computer? That would be "gremlins."

By the way, at a conference, I asked someone from Articulate about a"text moving around" issue. I was referring to the problem of selecting a text box and it looks one way; de-select it and the text wrap changes. I was told that I should always have Storyline set to view at 100% when working with text. Otherwise, the text seems to "move" because the program is figuring out how to display it at a smaller or larger size. And that simple solution solved that particular text problem.
