Font, size, spacing, location changed in/out of text box

Feb 15, 2013

When I toggle between inside and outside of textbook, the spacing between fonts, font sizes are slightly changes.   It also shifted the text down to the next line for me (inside text box).  Is that because of the bullet point?  I attached before, after screen shot. Before (inside), word "review" now shifts to 2nd line of the 2nd bullet points.  The font spacing are changed too if you look closely.  Left shot spacing is tighter.  Thanks.

Hi Cammen. Welcome to the community!

I can see a little bit of difference between the two screenshots. First, what version of Storyline are you currently using? You can find this by clicking on "Help">"About Articulate Storyline". If you aren't currently using version 2, please download and install Update 2. You can get it here.

If you're already running Update 2, or if installing the update doesn't solve the problem, please make sure you're viewing your course at 100% zoom. I have seen some issues where setting this above or below 100% can cause some text placement and size issues.

If that still doesn't fix the problem, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in this support article

Hi Cammen,

Thanks for getting back to me! I'm very happy to hear adjusting the zoom fixed this for you. Storyline should automatically set the default zoom to 100%. I just tested this by adjusting the zoom in a course that was originally set to 100% to 200%, closing it and reopening it in Storyline. The zoom resets to 100% when I open the course again. If this doesn't work for you, try changing the zoom and saving the course. Relaunch Storyline and see if the zoom is set differently.

Changed to 100% saved storyline file, reopened.  It now shows this (please see attached). Left: Correct fonts, locations, Right: After I clicked the text box, it shifted texts out of the frame.  Click outside text box wont return texts to where they were nor there was undo button to undo.  It's in 100% zoom and I already followed the troubleshooting steps you provided.  It does look a bit worse than before, unfortunately..

Hi Cammen,

The more I see this, the more it looks like an issue we discovered not too long ago with a Microsoft Update. Though the display issues are not exactly the same, I'm curious to see if you're using the update that's caused some similar issues. Please take a look at this support article and let me know if you have that update installed.

Thanks Cammen!

I don't see that security update in my system (win 7, 64-bit) from the article.  Nothing to remove really.

I might have found the cause.  I originally imported the slides from ppt.  There seems to be inconsistent internal margins on the default text boxes between PowerPoint and storyline, causing what I am seeing.

To prove it, I created a new slide, new textbook, bullet points within storyline, saved it, re-opened it, no font size changes or misplaced.  The rest of the slides (imported from ppt) still have the problems.

I have all my slides in ppt and don't want to recreate them in storyline so the issue remains.  Thank you.

Hi Cammen,

I see! I wasn't aware you were importing from PowerPoint. Imported text may not look the same way it does in PowerPoint.  You may find some variations in font size, line spacing, alignment, colors, or bullets.  Click here for more information. You may also want to read over the information in this article, if you plan to work with more content from PowerPoint presentations. I know there's been a lot of links in this thread, but hopefully this information will help explain why the content is behaving this way.

Barb - I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this, too. Can you give a little more information, though? Have you tried all of the steps I've shared in this thread? Are you pulling from a PowerPoint presentation as well?

Thanks,

Christine
