Force unlimited retries on quiz

Feb 12, 2020

I see a plethora of articles on limited the number of quiz attempts. However, I need for my learner to have unlimited tries. The problem I am having is that it limits to only 2 tries. I don't see anything enforcing this, except I have a 2 attempt limit on some questions. I can get it to cycle through multiple times, but then it starts flashing up each question briefly as it checks to see the status, it only stops on the ones that were incorrect. What am I missing?

I'm using Articulate 360, I have attached 2 examples, one with the results slide set to reset to initial state, the other with it set to automatic and a variable saying to keep resetting. Neither of these work... not sure what else to look for.

I've had a quick look at your files. Typically, when you're attempting questions, you can set it up to be attempted multiple times. For true/false questions, this will always be limited as it'll then be obvious what the answer is. However, all question slides can be reset, and re-attempted once they've reached the results slide. It would just be a matter of having a button to retry, and a trigger to reset the results. This would wipe their existing answers.

Otherwise, in the multiple choice question slides, in the question settings, there is an option to change the number of attempts to unlimited (see screenshot).

I assumed that the number of attempts is for each question, not for the quiz as a whole. That it would show my "Try Again" based on the number of attempts, but that the number of attempts didn't apply to the quiz as a whole.

So, I'd expect to be able to cycle through the entire quiz until I answered every question correctly. As it stands, I can only attempt to answer the questions that I've missed 2 times. Once, I've attempted the pass the quiz twice, it won't let me attempt again.

Ok so if I download one of your files above which one do you want me to look at.

  1. Do they get unlimited tries on each question before they progress to the next one?
  2. If not, how many tries do they get?
  3. When I go through the quiz the first time and I have some right and some wrong you want them to be able to retry the whole quiz or just the ones they got wrong?
  4. Do they keep trying the quiz until they get 100%?

The innards of both files are basically the same, but look at test_quiz.story.

1 - on T/F they are allowed 1 attempt; all others they are allowed 2.

3 - Just the ones they got wrong

4 - Yes, they keep trying until they get to 100%. We give them the correct answer, so they should get it correct before too many attempts.
