Forced Save As

Jul 23, 2020

I'm new to articulate and working on a Mac via Parallels if it matters.  Whenever I have been working on a project for some time, it will no longer let me save.  It says I must rename the file.  I've done this three or four times, on a very large project.  I've noticed some of the things I have saved are not in the "new" file.  It tells me the location does not exist when I try to open the "old" file.  They are named differently.  I'm up to about 6 different versions of the same file due to this issue and I'm losing valuable time as well as wasting storage space on my computer.

I did read somewhere that cloud downloads could cause this.  The current 5th and 6th version are in a non-cloud file that must be manually backed up.  I am still having the issue.

Please help!

Hi Amanda,

Happy to shed some light on this! Using a virtual machine shouldn't affect your files, unless you're opening them from a Shared Folder between the two environments.

There are several discussions in the community that have discussed Sharepoint, Dropbox, and others where syncing has caused this error to come up quite often. We always recommend opening your files from a local environment, and once you've saved and closed it, can you then upload it to the cloud or network drive. This article covers more details on that!
