Format lost with duplicate layers in Storyline 2 -- and Preview by layer

Jan 20, 2015

Hello, I am newer with SL2 ---two questions --1.  I noticed when I try to duplicate a layer, the formtting/text and font changes from the base layer.  Why?

2. I have a few slides with several layers.  Is there a way to preview just a single layer without starting at the base?  When I click that "play" button at the bottom of the slide, nothing hapens.  Thank you!  Terra

Hi Terra,

There isn't an option to preview just one layer - although you could view that layer and choose to hide other slide layers and elements on the base layer to see just how that layer looks on it's own.

In regards to format changes on a base layer - I'm not sure I'm clear on what's happening. First, I'd want to confirm that you're working on local project files as described here.

Ashley,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I always work from my local drive. Even when wanting to view a layer, I select "hide base layer and all other layers" --- I then try to preview just a single layer, and it always wants to start at the base layer -

Secondly, when I try to "duplicate the base layer and then edit the new layer, my text size and font is different. If I look in the "layout" section to see my layout, all of my layers are from a "clean" slide - not the same one that is used in the base slide layout. It is a real pain to have to go back and fix.

I have used SL1 for a few years so am newer to SL2. There just seems to be issues that I had not encountered before.

Thank you,

Terra
