Free flowing text boxes

Aug 04, 2022

Does anyone know if there's a way to have free-flowing text boxes in Storyline - I know you can create something that encourages a learner to put their name in, but I want to create something that allows learners to put more details in and not allow them to progress until they've completed it.

For example, I want learners to confirm they've set up a meeting with a colleague, be able to confirm who that is with, when it took place, which office/country they've liaised with and finally what they learnt from that meeting - this is for part of a welcome pack to get people networking with colleagues.

The information needs to be retained and they shouldn't be able to proceed further unless they've added something in every field.

The story would become part of a Rise piece of learning, so anything that's set up would need to work and be retained in that.

I've got my text boxes sorted, but need to know if there's a way that information entered is retained when you click out of a course.

If I import the Storyline 360 interactions into Rise and a learner adds their answers, when they close the course and perhaps go back in later, will their answers still be there? Is there a way to make that happen?

Hi Elaine,

Thanks for reaching out!

Any actions or progress made on a Storyline 360 course don't get "remembered" by an LMS when they are embedded in a Rise 360 course. This means that everything that you do on an embedded Storyline 360 course will get reset when you exit and relaunch a Rise 360 course.

Unfortunately, there's currently no way to make this happen because of how embedding works, but I’ll be happy to pass your thoughts on to our product team. You can also feel free to detail them more through a feature request!
