Freeform text with Try Again - Stuck

May 20, 2014

I have a free-form text entry slide, with 3 tries to enter the correct text.  The try again message appears for incorrect text, but three incorrect answers do not force progress to the next slide as desired.  Repeated "tweaks" have resulted in even the *correct* answer failing to advance to the next slide.  It just freezes at this point.

I tried a trigger to go to the next slide when the timeline ends, but the text entry field does not pause the main slide - so I don't even get to enter an answer.  Help!

Hi David,

Typically the trigger to advance to the next slide is on the Correct feedback layer - it typically combines these two triggers:

"Hide this layer when the user clicks the Continue button" and "Jump to next slide when the user clicks the continue button"  The continue button is typically what appears on each feedback layer with either the Incorrect, correct or try again message.

It sounds like that the second of those two triggers has been removed? Can you try adding it back in manually and let us know how it behaves?

Yes - my problem was that triggers had been removed from the Correct and Incorrect layers.  Once I added triggers to those layers, things worked properly.  What I learned was that after my 3 tries, I would end up on the Incorrect layer - so I added a trigger to take me to the next slide as the timeline starts.

And as I used my 2nd or 3rd try to correct my entry, I would end up on the correct layer - so I added a trigger there too, to take me to the next slide as the timeline starts.

This fixed it!  Thanks for your help!
