Freeform: Which feedback layer?

Dec 17, 2013

How is determined which layer comes up when a freeform is answered. The standard feedback layer names are CORRECT, INCORRECT and TRY AGAIN. But how does this work when I want to use my own layers with my own layer names and layout?

Hi Chris,

It's based on the feedback layers within the Edit question set up - although you can change the title of the layer within your slide layers panel, and the feedback on that layer. You'll see in the Edit Question section under Feedback - you can't change the layer titles here and they won't update based on what titles you change on the actual layers:

For ease of editing, I'd suggest that changing the layer title is the last item you update, so that you'll be able to check that your question is working as expected.

Hi Ashley,

OK, but when I want to use my own feedback layers how does Articulate determine which Text Boxes is connected to which feedback text. Not only which textbox contains the title (Correct, Incorrect etc.) and which contains the Feedback but also which layout (Correct Feedback Layout, Incorrect Feedback Layout etc.) is used.

What I do now is copying the standard feedback layouts and edit the copy.

Hi Chris,

I'm not sure what you mean by which text box is connected to which feedback text? You can use your own feedback layouts, and in the image I previously shared, you can only change the information in the right hand text box - the left side stays the same to indicate which will be shown when correct, incorrect, try again, or quiz review. If you change the title of the layer itself, within the slide layer set up, you'll still see the standard titles within the Question Editor window. I would make a small change to the right hand column there so that I knew which layer it was when I changed them within the slide layer set up.
