Game Template: Hidden Picture

May 20, 2015

Hello,

I thought I would share my Hidden Picture game with the community. I'm hoping this is the correct space to share this.

Here is a link to a demo: http://tinyurl.com/HiddenPictureDemoBrettSchlagel

What it is: Users select a category which interests them. Based on their choice, an image is hidden behind 9 tiles. With each question that is answered a tile is removed, revealing the hidden picture.

Attached you will find two versions. One version is HTML5 specific since HTML5 always throws a wrench in your sweet ideas. The other is a standard version which has a flashier intro and is much less click-laggy when editing the story content.

Each question is set up on its own layer for easy editing. Just pop in your questions and enter your answers.

The audio in this game is open to the public (public domain) and was picked up from: http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/pir/free_music_loops.shtml - they also include a copy of the license you can download if necessary which proves you have the right to use the audio for personal/commercial use.

The images are also open to the public (public domain) and were taken from http://pixabay.com/

Thanks and enjoy!

PS - This is not set up for SCORM.

For the more advanced: You could set this up for SCORM by assigning a T/F variable to each of the answer choices. Then add 9 quiz question slides which automatically select the response based on the variable value at timeline start (Change state of radio button to Selected when timeline starts On Condition that variable X = true). Then set each quiz slide to "submit interaction when timeline reaches 0.01" (and delete the feedback slides). Set the Results slide to jump to a Congrats/Game Over slide when timeline starts and boom...it's SCORM compliant. Just set a trigger to jump to the first quiz question slide when they answer the last question or when the state of all tiles are "hidden". The users will see a quick flash as the slides auto-answer based on their selections during the game. You could cover the quiz and results slides with a black square and a "loading..." text box so it doesn't flash and they wouldn't think a thing of it.
