Get my learners to view the whole slide before moving on

Jan 28, 2013

Hi, I'm new to Articulate Storyline. I am wanting to adjust the settings so that learners need to wait for everything to happen on the slide before they can move on. There isn't necessarily an activity on each slide but there might be several points on each slide. Is there a way to make the next button only active once the slide has completed? I don't really want it to auto-progress as I want to make sure that learners have seen everything but can take it at their own pace i.e. they are not rushed or held up waiting for it to auto-progress.

Welcome to Heroes, Hayley!

The beauty of Storyline, is that there's almost always more than one way to do something. You can prevent users from advancing too quickly by disabling the built-in Next button until they've met certain conditions, such as clicking all the buttons on the slide or listening to all the narration. Another option is to remove the built-in Next button and create your own custom button for navigation. Or, you can restrict navigation for your entire course by making a simple change to your player settings. This article has more.

Hope that's helpful
