Getting an error when saving....

Aug 29, 2014

Error message: The project file could not be saved. COM object that has been separated from its underlying RCW cannot be used.

We don't get this error everytime we save. When we get the error often times it saves the project anyway. Not sure what is causing this error. Any ideas?

Good Afternoon Philip, and welcome to Heroes!

This Forum Thread discusses a few possible causes for this behavior:

  1. Always save and publish to your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or an external (USB) drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources.
  2. Here are a few important tips and best practices for running Articulate software on a Mac with Parallels, if that applies to your situation.
  3. If the issue persists, follow the steps in this article to uninstall/reinstall Storyline and repair its supporting software.
  4. If you still have trouble, please submit a Support Case so that we can work more closely with you on the problem.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and have a great day!
