Getting multiple drag items to "tile" in storyline

Apr 07, 2015

I have an interaction where there are multiple drag items with multiple correct drop targets...I used advice from this awesome thread to make it work:

https://community.articulate.com/discussions/building-better-courses/storyline-multiple-drag-objects-and-multiple-target-areas

Each drop target is a large hotspot which will have 2-4 drag objects in it when the user is finished. However, because the drop targets are not assigned in the form view but are made manually, I cannot make the drag objects "tile" on the hotspot. They are stacking on top of each other which makes it impossible for the user to see which objects they have put where.

Does anyone know a way around this? I have attached the slide to give an idea of the problem. Thanks!

Thanks Leslie.  It certainly seems to be ok in Update 5 for Jan. But I am using Update 6. It would be useful if someone else with Update 6 could also open the file attached, choose "tile" in the drag and drop options, publish and see if it "tiles" or just "snaps to centre" (meaning the draggables are stacked on top of each other rather than all visible).  That way we can establish if this is a bug in update 6 or just something that is happening to me. I must admit I designed the interaction to tile and can't remember seeing a problem before I updated to 6.

Hi Julian!

I was able to see the behavior you are describing in your file utilizing SL2 Update 6 as well.

I installed SL2 Update 5 on a Virtual Machine and you are correct, it is not occurring.

If you could open up a support case here, then I would be happy to further assist you and get this issue filed with our QA Team as well. No need to re-attach your file, I just do not have access to your e-mail or I would file it for you.

Thanks!

Hi Jan,

It does not seem that this bug made it into Update 7 - the release notes document what fixes and/or features were included as shown below:

New Features:

  • Added support for Apple iOS 9
  • Added support for Google Chrome 44 and later on Android devices

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed issue where a lengthy course could lock up during preview or playback in a Flash-enabled browser
  • Fixed issue where right-click triggers wouldn't work on base layers in Flash output
  • Fixed issue where key-press triggers assigned to the slide wouldn't work after clicking the slide in Flash output
  • Fixed issue where pressing arrow keys would highlight items in the menu rather than moving objects on the slide

Hi Ahsley,

I know this list and the place where to look.

It would be very helpful if the programming team remembers to fix that bug!

I cannot install update 6+7 because of two bugs Articulate did NOT fix THOUGH the programmers know that the bugs are there.

:-(

I wish Articulate would care more about service and their customers.
