getting my html5 animation an index page

Nov 06, 2013

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me up some of this steep learning curve that I'm on? I'm no web expert and seem to be missing a few facts.

I want to insert animations into my lessons to illustrate certain key learning points (as opposed to the interactive animations within Storyline), I'm planning on making all of my output in html5 to keep it as widely accessible as possible, so i have got myself Hype2 to create these simple animations in html5.

I see that the folder needs an index.htm/l. But the output of the first trial anim I have done has just a blamk.gif (background I think), the .svg image (that needs a different format, I know) a couple of bits of java script (HYPE.js and ztrashrobintrial_hype_generated_script.js) and a PIE.htc.

What's a good way to get this inside a blank html page? Or whatever I need to do...

Thanks in advance

Adam

Hi Adam and welcome to Heroes!

I'm not familiar with creating animations in Hype2 (it's actually the first I've heard of it), but there may be someone else in the community who may be able to assist you. I did want to point out though that you can't publish just for HTML5. As you'll see here, Storyline will publish for Flash and you can enable HTML5 publishing as well, and here’s how Storyline determines which version of your content to display when learners view it:

  • Learners will see the Flash version of your content if their browser supports it.
  • If they're using an iPad and if you chose the Articulate Mobile Player option when you published, they'll see a launch page that allows them to view the course in the iPad app. (And if they don't have the app installed on their iPad yet, they'll see an option to install it.)
  • If they're using an iPad and you didn't choose the Articulate Mobile Player option when you published, but youdid choose HTML5, they'll see the HTML5 output in mobile Safari.
  • If they're using some other non-Flash compatible browser and you marked the HTML5 option, they'll see the HTML5 output. (For a list of supported browsers, click here.)
