Getting Values from Text Boxes in AICC LMS
May 06, 2016
Using the directions on the following link -- https://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-send-the-value-of-a-variable-to-an-lms -- I set up a project where users' entries in two text boxes on a single slide are delivered to our LMS (AICC), where we can store and track it.
For our test, we entered Test1 in textbox 1 and Test2 in texbox 2. This is what we found in the LMS as the stored results:
2u3880706090ts1001311k01011011110121101311~281101^1^1^1^1^1^5test15test25test15test21^1^1^n6WZ8Ywwi80Y.5sbZo1IWOHs1^1^0~2y1w03Kf4ma60005test1a60005test20000vcb1010310101110ba60005test10000vcb1010310101110ba60005test2000002100"
So our input is in there, but it's obviously surrounded by a bunch of junk. How can we get cleaner results?

Hi Betty,
Are there different types of reports that you can pull from within your LMS or other ways to aggregate the data? I'd defer to them for specifics on how to pull different information and what options are available for gathering a users answer from a text entry.
I'm not sure that would be a solution. Seems to me that the problem is that the data itself isn't clean, so no matter what report we used, we will still get junky results.
Just wondering why it might be producing all those extraneous characters.
Hi Betty,
When Storyline sends data to an LMS, we send a string of information such as the elements here.
