hi I wonder if they's a way that GIF will play when a slide starts. They seem to move on an internal timeline and have often finished by the time the slide is opened
thanks for reply's cant really post slide due to company security. yes am importing as image, I'll try starting as hidden. just really want it to begin animation when slide opens on timeline, doesn't seem to do that at the moment.
Is it only set up to play once or can you loop it? I haven't seen any just not play or having a different timeline than the slide - but I'd want to know more about if you're seeing this in preview, publish, both, and where you're testing the published content (environment and browser) to know if that could be having an impact.
If you can't share in the forums for confidentiality reasons you can always send along to our team here. That's a private upload and they can sign an NDA if needed.
hi loops are fine because doesn't really matter when they start. just wanting something to start at beginning then stop is the problem.
happens on published version. we are replacing the gifs and swfs in the output folder by renaming the originals and replacing them, because publishing breaks then. don't know if that's the issue.
If you're modifying the published output to replace them, that's not something I would be able to assist with. But if when you insert the GIF into Storyline it's not playing as expected we'll be happy to take a look. You'll want to share the original gif file here and let us know what version/update of Storyline you're using and then how you're publishing/viewing the output.

Hi Jack
can you post the slide - not sure I understand what you mean. Easier to help you if we can see what's happening.
Hi Jack, could you not set the GIF state to "hidden", then have it appear at a specific point so it then plays out as you wish?
Also, how are you inserting the GIF into your project?
If you insert it as an "image" I believe it will only show 1 part of the GIF and not actually play it.

I've just added a gif image and loaded the page, all works fine? So am not sure what your issue is here?
Silly question, the image is definitely an "animated" .gif file?
If you open the giff image in preview does it animate?
yep, if you try gif on a few different pages you may see the issue im talking about. they all seem to start running when coarse starts.
Hard to say without seeing.
But maybe try hiding and showing on demand to start when needed as mentioned before.
I hope this does work for you. Good luck!
