I was reviewing the captions and noticed that there are several glitches with the captions. Some captions appear when they simply shouldn't. curious if anyone else has this issue or knows a fix ?
pics attached
pic 1
The "then select "refresh accommodations types and attributes" is showing for a split second , and it's showing 2 captions ahead of itself .
pic 2 - shows the order
pic 3 - the caption returns , this is where it should be , so why is it appearing twice ?
I'm having the same issue. It occurs for me when two audio files "meet" within a slide--a random caption pops up at the start of the second audio file. I've tried shortening the files, deleting them and reinserting them, removing and adding the captions again, etc. Other ideas?
Thanks! I don't want to take over Elliott's thread, but I have several projects that I am going back to add captions to and whenever it switches from one audio file to the next a caption from later in that audio file flashes on the screen (above where the captions are). So it's not even the next caption in the second audio file but a later caption.
I have multiple audio clips that I place on the timeline. overlapping doesn't seem to be the issue, as I've noticed that captions even on a single audio clip flash out of order.
I'm not sure I've seen the issue you are reporting Elliott. Do you have a small sample .story file with an example that we could take a look at? If you cannot share it here in the forums, please feel free to share here privately.
I've just copied the slide that is having the issue. Seems to still suffer from the caption flashing out of order. Here is what the script reads to give you reference to the captions.
"So, [1] what if you don’t setup pricing properly in your preparation for ERS?
• •Let’s say, for example, you don’t update your Retail Rate Offer settings in HPP. [2] Well, then your hotels at risk of selling incorrect rates on our direct channels. •And what about attribute pricing setup? If attribute pricing is not defined properly, [3] then your hotel would not present attributes to the customer when booking their stay on direct channels."
Thanks Elliot for letting us take a look at your file! I played around with it, and I only saw the flash of a caption from your second audio file (also the second caption appeared in the flash). I didn't see any others appear in the wrong place. Does that match what you saw?
So I took a look at moving that second audio file on the timeline and splitting the individual captions into two separate audio files, and once I did that files 1 and 2 with their captions behave normally. But then upon hearing audio file 3, that caption showed out of order. I added an updated copy so that you could see what I played around with. It seemed odd, and like a possible bug, so I looked at creating a similar set up in a new file.
In the new file, I create two audio files each with two captions. That one worked normally and nothing appeared out of order.
So, I'm a bit stumped on your course. Can you tell me a bit more about how you created the audio, captions, or anything else that may be unique to your set up? Also, it sounds like you're seeing this on all files you create? Are you using the latest update of Storyline 360, update 13 was released this AM.
Hi I'm experiencing the same glitches as Elliot with the captions. Is there any update? I explored and made many test to identify a way to get around (space between every sound files on the timeline, let a little much time at the beginning of the timeline...) but the problem is here. It seems to work correctly on IE11 but not on EDGE and Chrome. Did you have an issue or a solution? Thanks a lot
I'm sorry for the issues you ran into where sometimes closed captions would overlap for back-to-back audio clips on a slide, and hidden characters in closed captions could cause the publishing process to fail.
It's been fixed in today's update of Articulate 360 - which also included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the release notes here.
Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
You'll want to publish and re-upload any content to take advantage of the fixes!
No need to wait, Olivier! Click on the Desktop app for the Update button and it'll install right away. Unless you're having to wait on your IT team to help... ;-)
Hi Ashley and Lesly I made the update of SL360 (03 April) and did many tests with different computers on Chrome, EDGE v40, EDGE v41 and Firefox. Everything is ok with or not with a good connection. Thanks a lot for your support.
Hello, thank you for this update that fixed overlap's captions problem on SL360 I experienced too. But I still work with SL3 with clients to exchange files and the bug is not fixed on SL3.
Does SL Staff knows if this bug will be corrected ?
Hey Benoit. I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 4 for Storyline 3! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here. One of the fixes addresses an issue where the closed captions were overlapping when two audio files were side by side on the timeline.
I tested a sample file, and it looks like you should be good to go! You can see my output here, and I've attached the .story file.

Hello Elliott and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your closed captions. I'm not sure that I've seen a report where they were out of order.
Do you have the audio added side by side on your slide? We do have a reported issue where the closed captions are overlapping.
Hello Michelle and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Sorry that you're running into an issue with your captions, but we do have this reported to our team.
Sounds like you are adding two audio files on a slide and there is some caption overlap?
I'll add this thread to the report as we track user impact and so that we can update you here when we can.

Hi Olivier,
As you can see from Ashley's response above, she had some additional questions for Elliot that we did not get a response on.
That being said, I do not have an update to share with you.
Would you be able to share what you are experiencing and a .story file for us to take a look?
Hey Ashley. - sorry for the delay
Nothing really different in the development. It's just multiple audio tracks placed along on the timeline. Storyline 360 was used for everything.
sorry this probably doesn't help troubleshoot
