Hi there ... here's my problem. I'm trying to publish to video from Storyline and am experiencing flashes or glitches during animations. I've looked at the troubleshooting checklist and have moved all my files onto the C drive on the Parallels side of my Mac. It's not the graphics that are misbehaving, rather the embedded icons and words that are flashing as they animate. What have I done wrong? Here's one of the files.
Thanks for sharing that video of what you're running into! I see that you've opened a case and my teammate, Angelo, has been unable to replicate the glitching.
Thanks for repairing Articulate 360 and continuing to troubleshoot with Angelo as we get to the root of why this is happening. You're in good hands, so be on the lookout for a reply soon!
Ren, I am having the same issue. I had a co-worker publish our Storyline file to video and she was also experiencing flashes and glitches. What is the resolution to this?
Does this appear to be happening in one specific file?
Does this happen if you try to publish a new file to video?
If you can share your file with us, we're always more than happy to help! You can share files in this thread, or you're always welcome to share them privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look.
It seems like the only time that I am getting these flashes or glitches is when I am publishing the file to video in 1080p It works fine in 780p. I would love to publish this video as a 1080p file though. I will send it to you in your private channel/response.
Yesterday we discovered that it is a likely software update issue. If you go back to the January update and run SL from there, the video rendering works.
Thank you for the update Ellen. This will help benefit all those who are having similar issues with the software. Vincent. When do you think this will get fixed. I am rolling back my software to the January 28, 2020 version. Lets see what happens. Shall we.
Nope , didn't work. I rolled back my software to the January version. Rebooted my computer and now it gets stuck on "Preparing to encode video...." I am going to roll the software back another version to see if that works. Vincent. Can you take the module I uploaded to you the other day and see if it works on your end. My supervisor is waiting for me to get this video done so we can provide it to our customers.
I've decided not to roll back any more versions. I have to much work to do to investigate which version will be the correct working one. Vincent, please provide me with a version that will work with publishing to video at 1080p so I can get this project done once and for all.
I understand, Heinee. We'd be glad to dig in and take a closer look. You mentioned that you shared privately above, but I was unable to locate your case. Do you have a case number?
If not, with your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
The link you provided in the "here" hyperlink takes me to the support page and not to the upload page. Could you please provide me with the correct link so I can get this module uploaded to you.
I recorded a quick Peek 360 video of what you should see when clicking on the link I shared above.
Not to worry, I've opened a case on your behalf and sent a request with a direct upload link for your file so that you can work directly with one of our support engineers.
Hi Leslie/Hienee what was the solution. Seems like Articulate and exporting using the video feature is a horrible experience. I'm updated to the latest version and when i'm publishing to video. It doesn't like WIPES, and also when the screen flips between the screens it flickers.
What is the solution you are all talking about. I cannot rebuild this file in a different program because there is way too much going on.
Hello Doug. I will share the response I received from the articulate team. I haven't tried this yet but I will let everyone know if it works or not.
Hi Heinee,
I have taken another look at your project file and see the flicker on the first slide as you mentioned.
I found out that the cause of the issue is the motion path in slide 1. I noticed that it not laid as a straight line (see photo for your visual reference: https://sharing.articulate.team/d5uvO0Ny).
The issue seems to be resolved after I aligned the motion path straight.
Can you also please try the same in your end and see if it helps?
Agreed. The publishing to video has bugs in it and all of the animations, transitions, wipes, motion paths (regardless if they are straight or not) still needs to be fixed.
Thanks for contacting our support team as well, Doug. I can see that you are working directly with Hazel and she is taking a look and doing some testing.
I'm getting the same glitching video output from Storyline as mentioned in this thread, in 1080p. It worked before Christmas as I been rendering Storyline files to mp4 for a while now. Going to try in 760p resolution (as mentioned above) as I have a major project that needs to launch tonight. Any idea when a fix will be available?
This is a critical problem in the last four versions. So no idea hope they resolve it quick or I’m gonna shift to after effects or animate to design motion images.
I have a work-around - I just rolled back Storyline to the 19th November version and it works fine, no more glitchy video in 1080p - can't stay on this version forever though, hopefully dev are reading this
I am also facing same issue. The published video is flickering at many places and everytime I publish, flickering is at different slides. Please help what should we do. Because my business is developing small videos for clients.
I'm sorry to hear you're also seeing flickering in the published video file.
Your description sounds like a match to an open issue in Storyline 360 — here's what we uncovered so far:
Behavior: When publishing for Video, some graphics with animations may flicker. The flicker is inconsistent or different every time the file is republished.
If that's not right, are you comfortable with sharing your course for testing? You can send it privately to our Engineers by using this secure link. We'll review it and delete it after!
Thank you for letting us know! I am adding your comments to our report, and we will be sure to provide an update to this thread about this issue.
In the meantime, when publishing courses to video, reverting to version 3.36 21289 of Storyline should prevent the flickering from occurring. You can find more details on this here:

Nope we are talking about different items. Then flickering is most likely to do with animations yes. But specifically the wipes and in between slides.
This is a latest version of software problem and I've sent in a ticket.
Cheers,
Doug K

This is a major glitch in the last 4 version updates. Fingers are crossed that it gets resolved and pushed as update soon.
