I've recently just updated my storyline and the animation within the module has become glitchy and it isn't as smooth as it was before the update. Just wanted to know if anyone is experiencing this problem with the new update, and if so how have they been able to rectify it.
Glad things are smooth as silk in the published output! When you were previewing, was it the overall course preview or the timeline preview? Wanted to take a look at this on my end.
Also, it'd help to know if you were using a particular animation type!
I can verify the issue on my end too. Interestingly it only occurs when you are previewing using the classic player. No issues with the published version. Highly annoying, would really want a quick fix please.
I've attached a file so you can have a look... It happens with I click 'preview' and I preview the slide or the entire project. Like I said it only happens when I preview and not when I publish, so I don't have to worry about building something that's glitchy for my clients. It's more annoying than anything as checking my work is something that I can't do as the published file doesn't match the preview.
I'm afraid that both examples that you've shown animation wise are extremely glitchy because you've sent a gif... I'm seeing this in every project and only when I preview that file. As Jim has mentioned he is also experiencing it on his work, and I have tested this on other machines and unfortunately, this is happening with them as well which only seems to be with the new update. I wasn't experiencing this before I did the update.
As I mentioned above it isn't the worst thing in the world as the published output is fine. It would just help to have complete consistency with the preview and published outputs.
Are you seeing this in Preview, Publish or Both with the Classic player? I did a quick test using the file Harry shared previously (thanks, Harry!) and took a Peek 360 recording of what I saw.
The first parts show the preview of the Modern player and then the Classic, and then once published to Review 360, Classic first and then the Modern player. I see the slowness only while viewing the Preview of the Classic player.
If you can take a look at that and let me know how that compares to what you're seeing, that would be helpful! Also, if you are able to share any files or links to the course I'm happy to test yours too.
If you haven't updated to the latest build, I'd like you to try that. If you are still seeing the issue, please reply here and we'd be happy to take another look and continue troubleshooting with you!
I have great news! This morning we shipped out Update 31 for Storyline 360 (3.31.19951.0). The new update includes the fix for the display being slow or choppy in Preview mode.
The easiest way to update is through the Articulate 360 desktop app. You'll see a notification telling you there is an update available next to Storyline 360.

I've just checked and when you publish the module the animation is smooth and slick, it's only when the preview it looks a little cluncky :)

Thanks for sharing the additional details and .story file, Harry.
The preview and the published version look very similar to me. Check out this quick GIF.
Are you seeing this in all of your projects or just this particular one?

Hey Harry! Maybe this video will give you a clearer picture of what I'm seeing when I preview your file.
Often a quick repair of Storyline 360 will fix glitchy behavior, so it might be worth a try!
No luck still from my end. Even with today's latest update. I have uninstalled SL 360 but still no luck.
I have noticed that it is only glitchy with previously made SL files, whereas new files don't present this issue.
OK update - the glitch happens only in classic player mode, not in modern. I am using the latest SL version (build 3.28.18944.0).

Yes that's what I'm seeing too. It is slow when bring previwed with classic
player enabled but does not affect how the exported file runs.
Is there a fix please?
Hi Jim,
Thanks for confirming. I don't have an ETA on a fix yet, but I'll keep you posted here.
Hi Jim, We've had difficulty replicating the slow preview in update 27 and beyond -- we're now on Storyline 360 July 23, 2019 (Build 3.30.19518.0).
If you haven't updated to the latest build, I'd like you to try that. If you are still seeing the issue, please reply here and we'd be happy to take another look and continue troubleshooting with you!

Good news Everyone,
Jumping in here to let you know we released Update 8 for Storyline 3 that also includes a fix for the issue where Preview mode was slow or choppy.
Here’s how you can update Storyline 3. Once you're up and running, preview your file and let us know if you run into any issues!
