So, I have a slide with text on a busy background. I'm trying to add a gradient fill to the text box that fades to nothing so the text is more readable, but doesn't look ugly overlaid on the background.
I'm able to set it up just fine in Edit mode, but when I preview or publish, I lose all of the transparency. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm using Win XP sp3 with 32-bit color turned on. I've attached my file as well.
Thanks for checking that, Gerry. I had someone else in my team Preview the file and it's rendering correctly for them. Funny thing is, if I publish on my computer, then view those published files on say my Mac, it still looks broken. It must be something related to creating the .swf file.
I updated my Flash Player and my graphics drivers, and I still get the problem. I've got an Intel Q43/Q45 Express chipset. Guess I'll just have somebody else do the final Publish for the project when it's done.
Since this issue is a bit older, could you share more about your set up and what's occurring? Are you seeing this issue in preview/publish on the slides themselves? You mentioned Windows 8 - is that in a virtual environment or just on the PC? Have you confirmed you're on the latest update of Storyline 2, update 4?
I am seeing the issue in preview/publish, but all looks fine in edit. I do have the latest version of Storyline 2 (update 4) and I am running Windows 8 as my main operating system on my pc.
It seems to be as soon as I start introducing transparency to the gradient, you start getting the defined lines where the colours change. (especially when going from 100% transparency)
I have attached 2 screenshots of what I am seeing in the edit mode and the preview mode.
I am using 7 stops to try and minimise the difference in colours, but it is still showing the hard line in the preview mode. (it is worse than this the less stops I use).
Thanks for the images. I'd like to see if you could share a sample .story file too so I can share that with our team - even just one slide with the different stops so that I can be sure I'm following your exact steps when setting this up. As it's really only the corners that aren't gradient, right?
Thanks for the sample file. It's particularly interesting, as it seems that the gradient elements are only being applied when there is a different colored shape behind it and in the areas where the tranparency is higher? So the background image that you have is also going to come through based on the transparency - especially at the edges where the transparency is at 100%.

Hi!
This is what I see when I publish your slide:
And if I remove the background image and publish or preview, I see the gradients:
I'm assuming that's how your gradients should look . . . ?
If yes, wondering if this is an OS or graphics adapter kind of thing.
Any possibility that you have access to PC with Windows 7 or Vista and a newer graphic adapter that you could try this on?
And what version of the Flash Player do you have on your XP PC?

I would like to re-open this, as I am experiencing this with Storyline 2.
I am using windows 8 with latest flash player.
Has anyone else been experiencing this issue?

Attached is an example of what I am working with.
