In the lower right of your screen, click on the gear icon in the Base Layer section of the panel (highlighted below with the red arrow on the far right). That will bring up the Slide Properties dialog box, where you can turn off the Next button by unchecking it.
You can also use triggers to set the next or previous buttons to a disabled state, rather than hiding them. Just add a trigger to set the button state do disabled. This also works for other buttons that you have from the default controls.
If you are using your own button, then just add a new state for the button for disabled, and the appropriate graphic for the disabled state.
hello Chris thanks for your help but the issue is the 'Pause' button is on the master slide and I want to disable/grey out it on one particular screen.
Is this a custom button you've created? If so, you can copy the button from the Master slide and paste it to the slide where it needs to be disabled. Then in the States tab, adjust the initial state of the Pause button to "Disabled".
Hi everyone, I need help with disabling a button I have created. I have built a number of buttons that lead to different areas of the course. Once the assessment for each area is complete the learner is returned to the menu. The issue is I want them to only have one attempt and then for the button to grey out and disable. I have tried to do this in states but it is not working. Can anyone help? I am using SL2.

Hi Mandy -

Hope this helps.

Can you share your .story file here so that someone can take a closer look at the states and trigger setup?
