Hand cursor for hotspot questions

Jul 18, 2014

Hello,

I have an issue with an interaction comprising several hotspot questions.

I don't want the mouse cursor the turn into a hand when the learner hovers on the correct hotspot. So I disabled this when creating my slides.

The thing is that for some slides, it is working and I have a regular mouse pointer when exploring the slide; but for other slides I have only a hand cursor on the entire slide.

Has anyone ever met this and would be able to help?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Ashley. Thanks fro your reply and yes this other issue you're referring to was solved. However, this one is different: here I do not only have the cursor turning into a hand in my correct hotspot, but the cursor becomes a hand on the entire slide, making it look as if the entire slide was clickable whereas it's not. I was wondering if it might come from the fact that the slide is built from a recorded media?

Hi Angelique,

I hope you don't mind me popping in with a suggestion :)

You mentioned that this is happening with slides that contain recorded media - I believe you're referring to video. Is that correct?

If so, you'll see the cursor change - this is because videos can be clicked to play/pause, depending on the type of video.

What I would do, especially if you don't want learners to interact with the video or see the hand cursor, is place an object on top of the slide content. For example, you could just use a square shape. Once all of the content is covered, modify the properties of that object and set the transparency to 100%. Learners won't be able to see the shape, but they also won't be able to click on the video or see that hand cursor.

If I'm misunderstanding, or if you have trouble with this, please let us know!

Christine
