I answered your other question over here, but once you've tabbed to an object on your slide using the Enter or Spacebar key should allow you to select/activate it.
I'm not clear on what you meant about the different media file for each tab order. Perhaps if you're still stuck, you can share a copy of your .story file here so that we can take a look?
The tab key will navigate a user throughout a course, and allow any screen readers to identify what the user is focused on. If you want to tab to the items and play them based on a keyboard trigger you'd need to add that to your set of triggers.
